■ How to Choose This Transformer

The number that decides the rating is starting current, not running watts. A compressor rated at 1/2 HP draws roughly 370W once it is up to speed, but can pull 1,800W for a moment on every start, and an air-conditioning unit behaves the same way. Build the calculation from input figures: list every load, mark which ones run together, total those watts, then multiply by the surge factor of the heaviest motor in the group. Above about 1,900W of calculated demand, this frame is no longer the right answer.

Check these three points before ordering:

• which way the conversion runs at your site — 110V to 220V or the reverse;
• the socket standard the destination market uses;
• whether the transformer will be switched at its own panel or from a wall isolator upstream.

■ Why a Double-Wound Core at 2KVA

At this power level the difference between an isolating transformer and a lightweight electronic converter becomes obvious in service. A double-wound core keeps primary and secondary physically separate, holds the output steady when a compressor starts, and limits harmonic distortion. Inexpensive autotransformer converters sag under the same load and shorten motor life. The DT-2000VA carries a full copper winding and a laminated core sized for continuous duty rather than for the first ten minutes of operation.

In workshop use we recommend leaving the input selector where it is and switching the unit at the wall instead. The selector is mechanical and does not need to be moved between jobs; leaving it untouched removes the most common user error, which is setting the wrong tap and under-powering the load.

Where several machines share the transformer, label each output with its input wattage. That removes the guesswork which leads to two heavy loads being started together and the MCB tripping.

When do I need a 2kVA step up transformer instead of a 1kVA?

Move to a 2kVA step up transformer as soon as the simultaneous input wattage of your equipment passes about 800W, or as soon as a motor is involved. A 2KVA frame gives roughly 1,600W of continuous resistive capacity and can start small compressors that a 1kVA frame cannot. Sizing one step above the calculated load also keeps the winding cooler and the unit noticeably quieter.

Can you supply a 110V 220V voltage converter transformer as an ODM order?

Yes. A 110V 220V voltage converter transformer can be built with fixed or selectable primary tappings, any socket standard, custom enclosure colour and your own branding on the front panel and carton.
