■ How to Choose This Transformer
Start with the equipment, not the transformer. Note the input wattage printed on each rating plate — not the output figure in the brochure — then add up everything that can be running simultaneously. Heating elements and electronic loads need a factor of 1.5, induction motors and pumps need 2.5 to 3, and refrigeration compressors can pull up to five times their running current. A 1500VA frame leaves roughly 1,200W of continuous capacity once the 80% conversion efficiency is taken into account.
Three things to settle before ordering:
- the actual mains voltage at the installation point, since a 230V circuit can read anywhere from 220V to 245V;
- the plug and socket pattern required in your market;
- whether the unit will be moved around or fixed in place, which decides the input connection type.
■ Set-Up Notes for the 1.5KVA Frame
Stand the unit on a hard surface with 10cm of free air around the vents and leave it outside closed cabinets — the laminated core dissipates heat continuously even at part load. Set the selector to the measured supply voltage, energise with nothing connected and check the output socket with a meter before adding loads. A warm case after an hour is normal; a case you cannot hold is a sign of overload or restricted airflow.
Where several appliances share the transformer, total their input wattage and keep the sum below 1,200W. Two devices of 500–600W can run together; a 1,000W appliance should have the unit to itself.
