The THG range exists for the two common mismatch situations: an appliance rated AC 110V or 220V being used in an area supplied at AC 220/240V, or an appliance rated AC 220/240V being used where the supply is AC 110/120V. Any electronic or electrical equipment can be connected to the output socket, provided the total load stays inside the rated wattage of the model chosen.

Because the THG platform runs from 100VA to 10KVA on one design, the rating is the only real decision. Total the input wattage of the equipment that will be connected, apply 1.5 × for heating and electronic loads, 2.5–3 × for anything with an induction motor and up to 5 × for a compressor, and choose the frame that covers the result. Household and office loads sit in the 100VA to 1000VA band; kitchen and laundry equipment pushes into 1500VA to 3000VA; from 4000VA upward the unit is normally hardwired and feeds a circuit rather than a single appliance.

• the required conversion direction and the mains voltage at the point of use;
• the socket standard for the destination market, and whether one or two sockets are needed;
• whether an input voltage selector should be fitted, since it is an option rather than standard on this range.

1. The efficiency of the DT/ST series is 80%. For equipment with motors or compressors, the starting current will multiply — always reserve adequate power margin.

3. Inductive loads such as motors and compressors: choose a transformer with capacity ≥ 2.5–3× the equipment rated power.

What is the difference between the THG and TC-D models?

They are built on the same toroidal platform and cover the same power range. THG is the standard market series; TC-D is the smaller-frame variant used where a more compact enclosure is preferred. Both are listed on this site.

Why is a toroidal core used instead of a laminated one?

Winding the core as a toroid removes the air gap that produces most of the stray field in a conventional laminated transformer, so the unit runs more quietly and can sit close to signal wiring without shielding.

Is the output isolated from the mains?

Yes. The THG is a double-wound isolation transformer, so primary and secondary are galvanically separated rather than sharing a common winding.

Can the transformer be supplied with two output sockets?

Yes — one or two sockets are available depending on model, and the socket standard can be matched to your market at the time of order.
