■ How to Choose This Regulator
The output of a manual regulator is set by hand and can be varied smoothly and continuously from zero up to the maximum value, so the first question is not capacity but whether you need an adjustable supply at all. A fixed-ratio transformer is the cheaper answer when one voltage is required; a regulator is the right choice for calibration, development work, motor speed tests and any application where the voltage has to be dialled in. Once that is settled, size the rating from the maximum current the load will draw at the highest output voltage you intend to use.
Three points to confirm before ordering:
- the maximum output voltage and current required, since capacity is set by the product of the two;
- the input supply voltage at the installation;
