Start from the equipment nameplate rather than from the transformer. Add the input watts of everything that will run at the same time, then apply a factor of 1.5 for heating and electronic loads, 2.5–3 for motors and pumps, and up to 5 for compressors and refrigeration. If the total falls between roughly 1,200W and 1,800W of resistive load, the DT-3000VA is the right frame.

1. The efficiency of the DT/ST series is 80%. For equipment with motors or compressors, the starting current will multiply — always reserve adequate power margin.
2. Pure resistive / electronic loads: choose a transformer with capacity ≥ 1.5× the equipment rated power.
3. Inductive loads such as motors and compressors: choose a transformer with capacity ≥ 2.5–3× the equipment rated power.

What is the difference between the DT and ST models?

Electrically they are the same double-wound transformer. DT units are catalogued for step-up duty (110V to 220V) and ST units for step-down duty (220V to 110V); both directions are available on either model through the input voltage selector.

Which rating do I need for a 1.5kW appliance?

1,500W of resistive load suits a 2KVA frame or larger. If the appliance has a motor or compressor, apply the surge factor first — a 1,500W compressor would call for a 5KVA frame or above.

Can the output socket be matched to my market?

Yes. US, UK, EU, Australian, South African and universal layouts are all produced. Specify the standard when ordering, as it is fitted during assembly rather than added afterwards.

Is a carrying handle supplied?

Yes, on every DT/ST unit up to 5KVA. From 7.5KVA upward the enclosure is intended for fixed installation.
